Whatever its imperfections, the new Paris climate change regime will create a seismic break with the tribulations and acrimony which has engulfed the twenty last years.
This marks the beginning of the end for fossil fuels and other major sources of greenhouse gas emissions. It opens up a more profound question centring on how this deeply disruptive change is to occur.
There are broadly two pathways, one chaotic and left to its now devisees. The other, a managed transition. This choice will be central to global and national politics for the decades to come.
